Mitzi Lawrence, M.Ed., is an educator whose career spans over 30 years in the English and Reading classrooms. After graduating from the University of Michigan, she began her career in Detroit, as a high school English teacher. Recognizing lack of reading skills as an extreme deficit and impediment to future education and life goals for her students, Mitzi began her pursuit of methods, materials, and strategies that would allow her to provide students of varying ages the necessary language and literacy acquisition skills to lead productive lives.
Mitzi pursued graduate studies in Language and Literacy. She also joined the staff at West Northfield District in Northbrook, Illinois teaching reading in grades 1 and 2. Later, Mitzi served as the Reading Teacher for grades K-8 at Prairie Crossing Charter School in Grayslake, Illinois. Currently, she provides support for the development and implementation of professional development seminars and workshops for teachers. Mitzi also provides support to TriBraining as an Educational Consultant and Program Coordinator.
Mitzi earned B.A.s in English and Anthropology from The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Michigan. She also holds an M.Ed. in Language and Literacy from National Louis University in Chicago, Illinois, as well as a current Illinois teaching license.
